Who we are

Mr Leak Ltd, trading as Mr Leak, of 14 Russell Square, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 2EE is the data controller for personal data collected through this website and in the course of providing our services. You can reach us at info@mrleak.co.uk or 01273 936 030.

What we collect

When you submit an enquiry we collect your name, phone number, email address if you give one, the postcode of the property, the type of work you need and whatever you tell us about the problem. If you become a customer we also hold the site address, the findings of the survey, photographs taken during the work, and the invoicing and payment records we are required to keep.

We do not collect payment card details through this website. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Why we use it, and on what legal basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and carry out the work. This is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, and then to perform that contract.
  • To produce reports for your insurer where you have asked us to, on the basis of performing our contract with you.
  • To keep accounting and tax records. We are legally required to retain these.
  • To defend a complaint or claim about our work. This rests on our legitimate interest in being able to evidence what we did and why.

Who we share it with

We share your information only where it is needed to do the job: with your insurer or loss adjuster where you have asked us to produce a report, with a managing agent or freeholder where the work concerns a shared building and you have asked us to liaise with them, and with our accountants and professional advisers. We use third-party providers to host this website and to deliver enquiry emails, and they process data on our instructions only.

We never sell your data, and we do not pass it to marketing lists.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become jobs are deleted after twelve months. Records relating to completed work, including survey findings and photographs, are kept for six years from completion, which matches the limitation period for a contractual claim. Accounting records are kept for the period HMRC requires.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask for data to be erased or its use restricted, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to receive certain data in a portable format. Email info@mrleak.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no advertising or profiling cookies. If website analytics are enabled, they are configured to record aggregate usage only — pages viewed, referrer and approximate region — and not to identify individual visitors.

Security

Enquiry data is transmitted over an encrypted connection and held in access-controlled systems. Photographs and reports relating to your property are stored in the same way and are shared only as described above.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date at the top of it.
